HOW WRONG

Sara McCall

to think we might be awarded

any completion in life—to ask if

all this chasing ends.

As if the spinning parts stop and fall.

On thicker days time passes

slow enough to see myself—

a hot tongue throbbing

in the cheek

of a damned dog

running toward nothing

waiting for a choke
