This work is part of a larger project called "The Hem-nal," a collaboration with Charlotte M. Porter. The overall theme of the larger project uses the hem of clothing as a metaphor for boundaries. We are interested in how much agency women have in determining intimacy, security and freedom. The collaged images of the woman sewing are from Van Gogh's "The Seamstress from Scheveningen."
