Tongue

The apex moves an identical death

from vellum’s firm cradle of fear,

not to do at all against sound but

sound surface for prominent images.

Prominent ideas about neuroimaging

confirm she is only sleeping:

“Detects prey by violent movement

and is not dead at all here in this pond”.

But sits there in my dark home,

dreaming around like a gun.

Aminta Meheru writes poems everyday through linguistic experiments of erasure, selective conversation recording, and intentional manipulation of linguistic data. She also writes other ways. Her poem « Al » appears in Red Wheelbarrow Anthology (2017).
